Quinoa has a nutty, crunchy, earthy flavor but tough and it is not sticky like normal rice. There may be a healthier alternative to pasta, rice and other cereals. You can serve it any time of day, whether we're talking breakfast, lunch or dinner here.
Cooking quinoa is not at all difficult, but if it is the first time you can end up, they have a bitter taste. There is a right way of flushing it to make sure that you get rid of saphonin dust. While there are a lot of pre-packagedQuinoa, which are already washed up, it will not hurt if you do it would be good rinse. Put it into a fine strainer and run cold water for about 2 to 4 minutes or until you see it is no longer fluffy.
One of the easiest ways to quinoa in the kitchen by cooking. 1 cup quinoa is good with 1 ½ cups of water with ¼ teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 8 to 15 minutes, this depends on the texture that you want to achieve. On boiling in water, quinoa seeds grow in sizeand they swell to three or four times. A cup of quinoa can feed 2 to 3 persons. What I like about quinoa is that it does not change the taste of other ingredients such as rice. It complements almost everything.
If you cook quinoa as an ingredient for a soup, make sure that you have rinsed it before setting it to the mixture. Chicken and vegetables are my favorite soup ingredients, and quinoa makes the soup very thick and creamy.
